I LOVE HOW YOU LOVE ME

I LOVE HOW YOU LOVE ME

by Brenda Looney

The first time I laid eyes on Vern I was crossing a busy street and he was crossing in the opposite direction. We met in the middle of the street. He had on a navy blue P-coat and had a thick head of wavy hair. His face was gentle and he had kind eyes and an intoxicating smile. Just as we were passing each other he simply said "hello" and my heart melted. I knew somehow that he was my 'soul mate'. I know many don't believe in love at first sight, but that is the way it was for me. He was a perfect stranger and yet when he spoke to me I felt like I had known him forever.

I didn't see him again till one night when I was bowling with an all women's league. I walked into the little mini bar to get a coke and there was my 'soul mate' working behind the bar. He had a part time job there at the bowling alley while he was laid off from his regular job. A lady on my bowling league introduced him to me and we chatted briefly. I was so nervous, and my stomach was turning flip flops. I was too nervous to even go back into the tiny bar for the rest of the night and just concentrated....or tried to....on my bowling. At the end of the last game, I looked up and there he was ..... waiting for me. He asked me to go out with him to talk and get to know each other better. I went with him, arm in arm. We talked far into the night and I felt an instant connnetion and somehow knew I would be with him the rest of my life.

We were inseperable for the next few weeks. While I was at work, he would just sit there and watch me all day. We had lunch and dinner together every night and hated to part. After only a month he put an engagement ring on my finger and four months later, we were married in a very simple ceremony in Rev. Bair's livingroom with only two witnesses in attendance. It was all we could afford, but we had to be together. We had a little honeymoon over the weekend at Cedar Point and were both back to work on Monday. We lived in a tiny, furnished apartment and couldn't have been happier. We shared everything and really became 'one'. I love him more than yesterday and less than tomorrow. That saying is on a simple silver bracelet he gave me 'for no special reason' the first year we were married. It is still my sentiment today. He's my best friend and companion and I'll be with him 'till death do us part'.

We'll be married 29 years on July 7 of this year. I wouldn't trade my life with him for anything in the world. He's a dear, kind and patient man who loves his family. I love him with all my heart and count my blessings that I found him on the street one lucky day.

I Love How You Love Me
( Bobby Vinton )

I love how your eyes close whenever you kiss me
And when I'm away from you I love how you miss me
I love the way you always treat me tenderly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me (love how you love me)

I love how your heart beats whenever I hold you
I love how you think of me without being told to
I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me (love how you love me)

I love how your eyes close whenever you kiss me
And when I'm away from you I love how you miss me
I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me (love how you love me)

I love how you hug me (love how you hug me)
I love how you squeeze me, tease me, please me
Love---how you love me
I love how you love me
